Web Accessibility Standards & Guidelines
Teradata is strongly committed to ensuring that accessibility is prioritized in all user experiences. Our web experiences and corporate design system aim to adhere to the standards set forth in this policy.
Teradata measures against the WCAG 2.2 AA standards, which were developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and provide a comprehensive framework for making web content and applications more accessible to people with disabilities. Following these standards ensures that our web experiences are accessible to all users, regardless of their abilities or disabilities.
Accessibility standards
Accessibility standards not only improve accessibility for users with disabilities, but also provide better user experiences for everyone.
- World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)‘s Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) provides resources to improve the accessibility of the World Wide Web.
- Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) contributors create and maintain the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), the global accessibility standard.
Strategies to achieve and maintain compliance
Ensuring ongoing compliance of accessibility involves a combination of proactive measures, continuous monitoring, regular audits, user feedback, and staying up to date with evolving accessibility standards.
- Stay updated with accessibility standards: Monitor and stay informed about the latest accessibility standards, guidelines, and best practices WCAG publishes. Review updates and changes to ensure our digital experiences remain compliant with the latest requirements.
- Integrate accessibility into Teradata’s product lifecycle: Incorporate accessibility considerations in our software development lifecycle from the initial design phase to delivery, testing, and maintenance.
- Conduct regular accessibility audits: Conduct regular accessibility audits and evaluations using automated tools, manual testing, and expert reviews. Identify accessibility issues, prioritize fixes based on impact and severity, and implement remediation plans to address identified barriers.
- Engage users with disabilities: Seek feedback from users with disabilities through usability testing, user interviews, surveys, and feedback mechanisms integrated into our digital experiences. Incorporate user insights and experiences into our accessibility improvement efforts to better understand user needs and enhance usability. - Monitor accessibility compliance in third-party components: Regularly review and monitor to try to ensure that any third-party components or services used in our digital experiences also meet accessibility standards. When standards are not met, Teradata will work with its partners and developers of third-party components to meet these standards.
- Stay responsive to accessibility issues: Act promptly to address reported accessibility issues and concerns raised by users, accessibility experts, or regulatory authorities. Implement timely fixes, updates, and improvements to resolve accessibility barriers and enhance the overall user experience.
